Gofna Yishuv

Gofna - a new Yishuv established by Nachala above Modiin.

Gofna located in the Shephelah is halfway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
The Hebrew Bible mentions the Shephelah several times. The term refers to a 12 to 15 mile (19 to 24 km) wide region in Judea.

The green hills and valleys surrounding Gofna (and Modiā€™in) was the origin of the Jewish Hasmonean dynasty that ruled Judea in the 1st and 2nd centuries BCE, and is where the Maccabean revolt against the Greeks began commemorating Chanukah.
